Dr Giacomo Cafaro starts his fellowship in Glasgow
As the first of 5 fellows Dr Giacomo Cafaro commences his fellowship with Prof. Iain McInnes at the Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation of University of Glasgow (Scotland).
He will pursue a translational approach to decipher the impact and function of IL-17A in PsA entheseal disease and tendinopathy. The investigation of the pathogenesis of human tendinopathy offers a novel route to understand basic processes by which inflammation can alter cell biology and vice versa.
Before starting his fellowship he was rheumatologist in training and involved in several basic and translational research projects at Rheumatology Unit of University of Perugia (Italy). His research activities are focused on primary Sjörgren‘s syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus.
