The Department of Internal Medicine 3 is dedicated to science, education and treatment of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases. A 21 bed ward, an outpatient clinic with more than 10.000 patients visits per year, a clinical trial unit dedicated to phase I – IV studies and 12 basic research groups.

The medical staff of the Department of Internal Medicine 3 is specialized in the diagnosis and management of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases including lab analysis and imaging. Scientific and clinical competence is reflected by its status as a “Center of Excellence” according the standards of the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and as EULAR Network of imaging research center. The medical staff has been trained according to Good Clinical Practice and the department is subjected to audits to ensure GCP guidelines on a regular basis.
